Julie Campbell Doll Artist

Although I have no formal training I have always been artistic with a flair for design art and needlework so when I couldn't find any suitable dolls to inhabit my own dolls houses it seemed only natural to make one myself ! All those childhood years of dressing my daisy dolls and making little characters from plasticene hadn't been wasted !

I embarked on my first doll with great enthusiasm !  Nothing could stop me and each doll was an improvement on the last. Encouraged by friends I sold my first doll on the auction site Ebay and never looked back
I am constantly learning and improving my skills and delighting in every step of the journey.

I use polymer clay to make my miniature art dolls, a material I am very comfortable with , sculpting has always came easily to me. I love the challenge of creating a portrait doll and although I aim for realism in my work I essentially create posable doll and am proud to call them Art Dolls.

I have a great love of fantasy and fairy art and alongside my 12th scale dolls I enjoy creating one of a kind sculpted art dolls under the name La Belle Fantasy Art . I'm currently working on a range of pin -up girls .

In 2007  I got together with fellow doll maker Nicky Cooper to found The British Miniature Doll Makers Guild. A place where miniature doll makers can unite and share their experiences. In just a short year the Guild has gone from strength to strength . To find out more visit our website at www.bmdg.co.uk.
2008 promises to be an even busier and better year !
